Near the spot where Lieutenant General Sarvarov had been assassinated
The explosion occurred on Eletskaya Street, in southern Moscow, very close to where Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the service training directorate of the Russian General Staff, was killed on Monday.
Russia said it suspected Ukraine was behind the murder. There was no official comment from Ukraine.
The unofficial Ukrainian website Myrotvorets, which provides a database of people labeled war criminals or traitors, updated its listing for Sarvarov to say the 56-year-old lieutenant general was “killed.”
