Israeli Prime Minister demands full compliance with armistice after soldier injured by explosive in Rafah
The Prime Minister of Israel, (Likud, right), stated that Hamas broke the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The prime minister’s statement was made on Wednesday (Dec 24, 2025), after an Israeli soldier was injured by an explosive device in Rafah, in the south of the Palestinian territory.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s office released a statement demanding that the Palestinian group comply “fully” the established. According to the agency, the document highlights that the pact determines the removal of Hamas from power in Gaza, in addition to the demilitarization of the group’s forces.
The (Israel Defense Forces) reported that the explosive device was detonated against a military vehicle in the southern area of Rafah. One officer suffered minor injuries in the attack, according to the military. Netanyahu’s office stated: “Israel will respond accordingly”.
The incident took place in Rafah, a city located in the extreme south of the Gaza Strip, on the border with Egypt, a region that has been a strategic point during the conflict. The extremist group has not yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack takes place while that of the president of the USA, (Republican Party), tries to advance. The proposal establishes an initial truce followed by measures for a broader peace, including the disarmament of Hamas and its departure from the Gaza government, in addition to the Israeli withdrawal from the territory.
Hamas, in turn, had already declared that it will only hand over its weapons if a Palestinian state is established. There are members of Netanyahu’s government who will only accept the “extermination of “no room for surrender. The parties have not yet reached a complete agreement.
