Savencia Fromage & Dairy announced, in a statement, the signing of an agreement to acquire Quatá Alimentos, a Brazilian manufacturer of cheese and dairy products. The operation reinforces the presence of the French group in Brazil and expands its local portfolio with traditional brands for domestic consumption, such as Glória and Quatá, said the owner of Polenghi in the note.
According to Savencia, the transaction will complement the company’s operations in the Brazilian dairy market, adding the strength of Quatá’s brands to the existing portfolio in the country, which includes Polenghi, Campo Lindo, Polenguinho and Frescatino.
The company highlights that Quatá has a wide and complementary line of cheeses and derivatives, as well as strong recognition among consumers.
Quatá Alimentos is a family-controlled company and its operations are based on collecting milk from regions in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.
In the statement, Savencia’s global CEO, Olivier Delaméa, stated that the acquisition “reinforces Savencia’s historical presence in Brazil, where the group has been established for decades”, and added that the move represents “an important step in our growth trajectory in the country, by complementing the portfolio and strengthening our position in the Brazilian dairy market”.
The founders of Quatá Alimentos, José Henrique Coutinho and Maurício Franco, also highlighted the significance of the operation. “Today we take a new step in our history by joining the great Savencia family. This alliance honors Quatá’s trajectory and reinforces our commitment to its continued development”, they stated in the note.
Continues after advertising
The completion of the transaction still depends on the approval of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), in accordance with Brazilian antitrust rules. Until the process is completed, Savencia and Quatá will continue to operate independently, maintaining business continuity and serving customers and consumers.
Savencia Fromage & Dairy is an independent, family-controlled food group, with around 22,700 employees worldwide. The company is among the main global players in the dairy sector, being the second largest cheese group in France and the fifth largest in the world.
