Russia will assess the new US peace plan for Ukraine based on the negotiations of Ambassador Dmitriev in Miami, where he met with American officials.
Russia will formulate its position on the latest draft peace plan for Ukraine presented by the United States based on information from special envoy Kirill Dmitriyev, who held talks with US officials in Miami last week. This was stated on Wednesday by the spokesman of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, the Interfax and RIA Novosti agencies reported.
“Dmitriyev already had the opportunity to inform the president in detail about the results of his trip. Based on the information received by the head of state, we intend to formulate our next position and continue contacts through existing channels as soon as possible,” Peskov said in response to a journalist’s question.
Peskov refused to specify what documents Dmitriev brought to Moscow from Miami. He emphasized that Moscow will not comment on aspects of the plan that have not yet been resolved through the media.
He added that “the main parameters of the attitude of the Russian side” are well known to the American side.
Dmitriyev, the special representative of the Russian president for investments and economic cooperation with foreign countries, last weekend held talks in Miami with the envoy of the US president, Steve Witkoff, and the son-in-law of the head of the White House, Jared Kushner.
One of Moscow’s conditions for ending the war is for Kiev to give up territory in the Donetsk region, which Russia has so far failed to capture in almost four years since it began. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky categorically rejects this and on Tuesday presented his proposal for a 20-point peace plan.
Russia repeatedly accuses Zelensky of not being interested in ending the war and of wanting to continue fighting with the support of EU member states.
