American television series Monk, broadcast from 2002 to 2009quickly won the hearts of viewers in Slovakia as well. He got the main role American actor Tony Shalhoubwho brilliantly portrayed a former policeman and a genius detective.
Adrian Monk’s character suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder and a number of phobias. It was these qualities that enabled or, on the contrary, made it difficult for him to solve complex cases with extreme precision and attention to detail. His analytical talent and exceptional sense of solving mysteries made him a man who fascinated the audience.
The series not only entertained, but also deeply affected people emotionally, especially in connection with the tragic death of his wife Trudy, whose murder he was able to reveal only at the end of the story. Shalhoub received several prestigious awards for this performance, including three awards Emmy and the Golden Globe.
After his success on television, the actor remained active in the film world, appearing in various genres – from comedies to dramas to animated projects. For example, he starred in films Men in black, Galaxy Quest, Thir13en Ghosts whether Pain & Gain.
On September 24, 2025, he attended the premiere of the new action film Play Dirty, where he appeared alongside Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield. It’s hard to believe that an incredible 16 years have passed since Monk was broadcast. At the age of 71, he looks almost the same as he did during the filming of the series.
