Russia will study new peace plan with Ukraine

Ukraine announced news about the peace plan negotiated with the United States: sovereignty, security and reconstruction are some of the main points of the 20-point document. Russia has already said it will study the plan.

Entering the fourth year of war, the president of Ukraine announces the result of negotiations with the USA in search of a plan for peace. Of the initial 28 points, Zelensky has now announced 20 and Russia has shown itself available to evaluate.

Some of the pillars of this new version are sovereignty, non-aggression by Russia, security guarantees from American and European allies and the 800,000 Ukrainian troops.

Ukraine will also join the European Union and will have a development and reconstruction plan.

It is not expected that the agreement will pass without changes proposed by Russia, which is preparing to study the new plan and present its position.

“We now intend to formulate our future position and resume contacts in the near future through the channels that are currently in operation,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The talks come at a time when a new booby-trapped car exploded in Moscow, killing three Russian police officers who Kiev’s secret services say had tortured Ukrainian prisoners of war. It also happens after a widespread Russian attack on several Ukrainian cities, in a “failure”, as Zelensky called it, clearly a Christmas truce.
