São Paulo hires Carlos Coronel, a Brazilian naturalized Paraguayan

São Paulo signed Carlos Coronel, a Brazilian goalkeeper who is a naturalized Paraguayan.

Club and player have an agreed agreement, with only the transfer bureaucracy to be formalized, according to Itatiaia’s findings. The announcement should happen soon.

Carlos Coronel was at the New York Red Bulls, in the United States, with a contract valid until December 31st of this year. Established at the club, where he was an absolute starter, the athlete received an offer for renewal — however, based on Tricolor’s interest, he chose to play in Brazil to fulfill a personal dream.

After New York’s effort for Carlos Coronel to remain at the United States club, the goalkeeper will arrive at São Paulo free of charge for the transfer. He will compete for position with Rafael and should be at the next World Cup, in 2026.

Goalkeeper for the Paraguay national team, Carlos Coronel will be the second reinforcement signed by São Paulo in this transfer window. Tricolor also announced midfielder Danielzinho, ex-Mirassol.
