The government of will recover 1,454.78 hectares of degraded areas, or around 2,000 football fields, in an action that is part of the program, which seeks to repair environmental damage with a strategy that avoids judicialization.
Within the scope of the initiative, six agreements have already been signed that provide for environmental restoration and the strengthening of structuring actions.
The balance of the agreements was the payment of R$448,712 in fines, in addition to the conversion of R$4,038,406.20 into environmental services, with R$2,706,361.20 going to Finaclima (aimed at forest conservation and restoration) and R$1,332,045 to Sare-SP, the Ecological Restoration Support System.
The program is a joint initiative of the PGE (State Attorney General’s Office), the Secretariat of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics and the Court of Justice of São Paulo and seeks to develop solutions for the recovery of natural heritage, focusing on repairing the damage, and not just charging fines.
