The Government of the American President, Donald Trumphas announced sanctions contra five European personalities who advocate for a strict regulation of the technology and against online disinformation, including former french commissioner of the European Commission Thierry Breton. The sanctioned people are also prohibited from entering the United States for endorsing legislation that resembles “censorship” to the detriment of American interests, in the words of the State Department.

“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led organized efforts to coerce American platforms to punish American views with which they disagree,” criticized the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, on the social network to add: “The Trump Administration will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”
