The fairy tale Three Nuts for Cinderella is already a Christmas classic. Most Slovaks and Czechs cannot even imagine the most beautiful holidays of the year without this film. It is also very popular in other countries. As the portal writes, a large fan club in Germany organizes themed balls in the spirit of this classic every year at castles.
Lovers of the Christmas phenomenon know every single detail and line from the movie by heart. We bring you interesting things from the filming that you might not have known about. Libuše Šafránková († 68) played the main character as a 19-year-old.
“I was invited to an audition with many others. I arrived as one of the last and I was left with a dress that probably no one else could fit into. Later, at a ball in Moritzburg, I noticed that a ballerina was dancing in them.” the legendary actress recalled in the past.
There was also huge interest in the role of the prince. Hundreds of actors came to audition. He finally starred in a cult film Pavel Trávníček (75). However, it was dubbed by Petr Svojtka, who two years later played with Šafránková in The Little Mermaid. According to director Václav Vorlíček, Trávníček had a strong Moravian accent at the time.
The unforgettable Droběna was portrayed by Helena Růžičková. She stole the scene at the royal ball for herself. “When she played Little Baby, who dances with the prince at the ball, it was her idea to take him in her arms and drag him along,” revealed the writer Marie Formáčková. Cinderella came to the ball on the horse Jurášek. In fact, there were three of them. You can notice the first one in the stable with winter fur, the second one without it while walking through the forest, and the third one later in Germany.
Šafránková only revealed in the book that filming was not a walk in the park. For example, during the filming of the final scene, a strong wind was blowing and the temperature was minus 21 °C. But she was wearing only light clothes. The background of another ice scene is also interesting. It was not Cinderella who hit the prince with a snowball, but director Vorlíček.
