Christmas is the time of cookies, traditions and family reunions – but often also the time of old conflicts. As soon as everyone sits together, arguments that have remained under the surface for the rest of the year often bubble up, says Petra Stecher. She is a clinical psychologist and likes to use a metaphor for family relationships: “These relationships are like construction sites. And especially at Christmas, the facade often crumbles and many old cracks become visible.”
