The 28-year-old archer is at the end of his contract with the North American club (until December 31) and, according to journalist André Hernan, will sign permanently with Tricolor do Morumbis.

Who is Carlos Coronel?
Carlos Coronel was born in Brazil, in Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul. At 1.92m, he started his career at Red Bull Brasil, but left the country very early, at the age of 18, to play for Liefering on loan from Red Bull Bragantino, earning good minutes.
Then linked to Red Bull Salzburg, where he played just 10 games, he was in the squad that won the Austrian League four times and the Austrian Cup three times. Carlos Coronel’s first experiences in the United States were on loan for Philadelphia Union and Bethelehem Steel. Until in 2021 he changed teams in the Red Bull Group, leaving Salzburg for New York.
At New York, he became a team idol. The New York Red Bulls finished 10th in the Eastern Conference this season, missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
Carlos Coronel’s departure was confirmed in November and since then he has been free to look for a new club. Team and player could not reach an agreement on a new contract.
Despite being born in Mato Grosso do Sul, Carlos Coronel has dual nationality and has been playing for the Paraguayan national team since 2023, including being called up to compete in last year’s Copa América, when he did not play. He was a starter at the start of the qualifiers and in friendlies in 2024, but was not called up in recent games.
His presence on the national team’s radar reinforces the goalkeeper’s status as a reliable option for the current cycle, especially at a time of renewal for the Paraguayan squad.
