A and accompanies Doug (Jack Black) e handle (Paul Rudd), two friends who face a mid-life crisis and decide to fulfill their old dream of re-recording the film “Anaconda”, which marked the duo’s youth in the 1990s. However, things get out of control when a giant snake appears on the film set and they have to fight for survival.

In his first Hollywood project, he contributes a comedic approach to the story.

The Brazilian actor was highlighted in reviews from international outlets. Check it out:

  • Pete Hammond, for the
“The rest of the cast fits in well, especially the always reliable [Steve] Zahn and the great Brazilian actor Mello (‘I’m Still Here’), who steals the show as the grief-stricken anaconda trainer.”
  • Peter Gray, stop
“But the real scene-stealer – the film’s shocking MVP, without a doubt – is Selton Mello as Santiago Braga, a snake handler whose every line seems to arrive half a second late and with twice the expected intensity. Mello plays Santiago with an inspired mix of arrogance, menace and comedic naivety, turning what could have been an ordinary supporting role into a memorable moment. Each appearance adds to the film’s energy, and his interactions with Black and Rudd, in particular, are genuinely hilarious; It’s the kind of acting that takes you by surprise and then completely hijacks the film.”
  • Chris Bumbray, for the
“Of the entire cast, the only performance that comes close to being genuinely funny is that of Selton Mello (who recently played a very different and serious role in Walter Salles’ ‘I’m Still Here’) as the snake handler the team hires, who happens to have his own pet anaconda.”

Most of the reviews already published in the specialized media praise the film’s humor and Deadline even classifies “Ananconda” as “the funniest film of the year”.

However, in deciding to pay homage to the 1990s horror classic, director Tom Gormican seems to shy away from the scariest genre and embrace comedy.

“This ‘Anaconda’ practically dispenses with horror. Although the snake is bigger this time, it is much less threatening, providing a few scares, but nothing more”, says the Variety review.
