Surgery to correct former president Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) inguinal hernia began at around 9:10 am and remains uneventful.
A CNN found that the medical team is evaluating the possibility of expanding the procedure to include an intervention against Bolsonaro’s hiccups.
In a note released on Sunday, the former president’s doctors said that during his hospitalization period, an “anesthetic blockade of the phrenic nerve was scheduled to be performed, with the aim of alleviating hiccups”.
Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) reported at around 9:30 am that Bolsonaro had already been taken to the surgical center. The procedure is expected to last three to four hours.
In a note shared on social media, Michelle announced that information about the end of the surgery and Bolsonaro’s health status will be officially released on the official channels of the family, the hospital and PL Nacional.
“I ask that you join us in praying for him [Bolsonaro] and by the entire medical team. We fully trust that God is in control of all things,” Michelle wrote.
The surgery was authorized last Monday (23), by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court). Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) is the main companion at the hospital.
Moraes also authorized the former president’s children, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), former councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL), councilor Jair Renan Bolsonaro (PL-SC) and Laura Firmo Bolsonaro, the couple’s youngest daughter, to visit their father during the time he remains hospitalized.
