Can jurors in well-known US cases like Mangione or Kirk be unbiased?

Every person has the right to a fair trial. This is one of the cornerstones of a functioning democracy with an independent legal system. And this requires people who approach a process unbiasedly in order to then make a judgment. Judges are then trained and receive good money to maintain this impartiality, but what about lay judges? How can we ensure that jurors in well-known cases such as the killing of health insurance CEO Brian Thompson in New York in 2024 or the assassination attempt on right-wing extremist Charlie Kirk this year are not already influenced by media reporting?
