Do you put the dishes in the dishwasher right away or do you rinse them first? The difference in cleanliness is huge

The dishwasher is the perfect appliance. Whoever buys it once, usually would never want to go back to washing dishes by hand. But can you properly handle her abilities and take care of the dishes as they surely deserve?

It’s logical: the cleaner the dishes we put in the dishwasher, the better it will be able to clean the residues that are still stuck on it. We would certainly say that to ourselves with a large amount of logic, if we did not know that today it is already a little different. Streams of water from the tap, which are used to rinse the plates as perfectly as possible before placing them in the device, are completely unnecessary.

Do not overdo the preparation

Of course, no one says that the dishes that we didn’t finish should go in the dishwasher. But there is a big difference between when, for example, we dry the aforementioned plate free of larger food residues (it is enough to wipe it with a knife in the trash), or when we hysterically rinse every millimeter of it. It is not only about cleanliness itself, but also about the economic and ecological side of such behavior.

Modern devices can do a lot

If you feel guilty about putting pieces in the dishwasher without washing them first, it’s time to rethink your approach. We usually decide to pre-wash the dishes out of fear of clogging the filter. Today, however, everything is different and concerns about the necessity of pre-washing are no longer justified.

Breaks down fats and starches

Dishwashers use refined washing cycles and the products contain so-called enzymatic detergents. Today’s cleaning products are full of enzymes, i.e. microscopic helpers for the removal of organic matter, which take care of breaking down fats, starches and .
So what happens when the detergents and the dishwasher themselves “find out” that there is actually nothing to wash? Clean dishes deprive the enzymes of their primary target, which leads to their deactivation because they don’t get enough dirt to work on effectively. The next part of the washing cycle has to be done without their help.

Beware of an unnecessarily short cycle

Another problem can be the unintentional shortening of the washing cycle. If the dishwasher considers that the water is already clean, it will shorten the cycle for a necessary long time, which can paradoxically sabotage the perfect washing result. It is the leftover food that will help us achieve the best result.

We do not save water

What about the environmental impact? Thorough rinsing of each piece before putting it in the machine will mean at least the same water consumption as the dishwasher consumes for the entire cycle (9-15 liters), but rather many times higher.

It’s easy

So let’s recap the correct procedure: carefully scrape off food residue, but do not rinse the dishes. Believe me, the moment you let go of your prejudices, your dishes will be much cleaner when you take them out of the dishwasher. So now it’s clear: let the enzymes and the dishwasher do the work.
