Many people also remember the late Karel Gott († 80) during the Christmas season. They remember him mainly when they hear his famous voice in one of the legendary hits. One such song is called – Somehow, little bird, you have a nestwhich is inseparable in Karlov’s version part of the fairy tale called Three Nuts for Cinderella. Český denník pointed out how Slávik is connected to several fairy tales.
“He thought of me and I was grateful for that, because he always had a shot at goal. The song became a hit in a short time and I always included it in the program of my Christmas concerts.” Gott once admitted to Český Blesk about a composition composed by Karel Svoboda († 68). At the same time, he added that he also sang it because people would not allow him to go back home otherwise.
It is no surprise that the mentioned song has found its loyal fans. The fact that many people like her is also confirmed by the royalties that the maestro received from all over the world, already in the 20th century. As is generally known, this profit share is received by artists every year.
The hit was so successful that from 1973, until the end of 2018, it earned a huge amount of moneywhich many people would not even dream of. “That amount is a little over five million crowns. It is an untaxed amount,” revealed to Bleska, specifically a source from the Author’s Protection Association. This is an amount in Czech crowns.
Not in all countries the fairy tale appeared together with a hit as soon as it was created. Paradoxically, it was German-speaking countries that broadcast Cinderella for several years, without this song. And that despite the fact that this fairy tale is even more popular with them than with us.
The reason will probably be different than you expected. The legendary May Bee was to blame! The director of Cinderella, Václav Vorlíček († 88), revealed several interesting facts to Czech Blesk. “The East German DEFA television was involved in the production of the film and it had a problem with Karl Gott!” he admitted. You may be really surprised by what was behind it. The point was that this television had the intention of selling the fairy tale about Cinderella, also to West Germany. However, it was not that easy at all. Just at that time, another song was very popular there – Maya the bee.
At first glance, it might seem that there is nothing special about it. However, this song was produced by a competitor, which naturally leads to a conflict of interest. “So they informed me that they didn’t want his song in the German version of Three Nuts, and left only Karel Svoboda’s music,” the director added in this regard.
