Police officers and paramedics joined forces for an exceptional heart transfer: They used this very route for it

Police officers from the Kunovec highway department assisted the emergency medical service in transporting a human heart from the Martin University Hospital for transplantation to Bratislava. The transport was also carried out through the Višňové tunnel, which was still not open to motorists at that time. The Žilina Regional Police reported on this on Thursday on the social network.

“It was this route that made it possible to significantly reduce the time of transportation and bring the saving of human life one step closer to a successful end,” the police stated.

At the same time, they highlighted the workers of the National Highway Company, who showed a high level of professionalism, humanity and willingness in an extraordinary situation. “With their prompt and accommodating approach, the Višňové made it possible to pass through the tunnel, and thereby directly contributed to saving lives,” added the police.

According to her, this act is proof that when expertise, cooperation and humanity are combined, rescue services can overcome even ordinary boundaries and do everything for the most valuable thing – human life. The Višňové tunnel is part of the section of the D1 Lietavská Lúčka-Dubná Skala highway. It was opened for motorists on December 22.
