Leader of the City Council of , councilor Luna Zarattini says that the bench negotiated support for , the mayor’s candidate () to preside over the House, in exchange for taking over the Urban, Metropolitan and Environmental Policies Commission and being able to get the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) appointed.
In the last two years he was responsible for directing the body, which studies and debates topics such as zoning and land use and occupation. Teixeira did not commit to the position, but said he would try whatever possible.
“We intend to nominate councilor Nabil [Bonduki, arquiteto e urbanista]. The city is for sale, with spaces being privatized, and many concessions that need to be reviewed, such as those for Ibirapuera, Água Branca and Mercadão parks”, said Zarattini.
“In fact, we want Teixeira’s support to have more autonomy, without being hindered. It was a year in which they cut amendments, blocked the CPI. They didn’t let the opposition run a CPI”, complains the PT member.
Of the CPIs presented by PT councilors, that of . “I felt embarrassed by the judicialization, you don’t do high-level politics like that”, says the councilor.
In the election to preside over the Chamber, Teixeira, the only candidate, obtained 49 votes in favor, including those from the PT bench, and five abstentions. The only abstentions were made by PSOL councilors, who did not reach consensus to launch a candidate.
Teixeira had as his main opponent the president of the municipal party himself, former councilor Milton Leite, who defended the candidacy of his godson Silvão and, finally, bet on Rubinho Nunes.
Former Secretary of Traffic in the Nunes administration, he is already seen as a figure closest to the Executive.
