A 59 year old woman, suspected of keeping 121 abused animals in a kennel in Brejo Santo, in the interior of Ceará, was arrestedlast Tuesday (23), by PCMA (Maranhão Civil Police). The capture took place in Pedreiras, (Civil Police of the State of Ceará), responsible for investigating the case.
According to PCCE, the woman owns a kennel where the animalsamong dogs and cats of various breeds, were found in deplorable conditions.
The animals and without adequate veterinary care, which constituted the crime of mistreatment, according to authorities.
On December 16th, a joint operation between PCCE and SEPA (Secretariat of Animal Protection) of Brejo Santo resulted in , where they receive medical care and adequate food.
The suspect, who has a history of environmental crimes and threats, was located and arrested in the city of Pedreiras, in Maranhão, where she was on the run. The capture occurred after an investigation by PCCE, with the support of several units, including the 2nd Sectional Police Station of the Interior Sul and the Police Department of the Interior Sul (DPI Sul), which collaborated in executing the arrest warrant.
After being arrested, the woman was taken to a police unit and remains at the disposal of the courts.
