Suspect of murdering Moisés was in a forest area and looked for family; delegate confirms 2nd person involved

years After the arrest of Antônio de Sousa Moraes, 22 years old, suspected of , delegate Alcino Júnior, head of the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP), spoke to the press and detailed how the Civil Police arrived at the whereabouts of the person being investigated, this Thursday (25).

According to the delegate, the searches began on Wednesday (24), shortly after the preventive arrest warrant was issued, and continued continuously throughout the morning. According to him, the repercussion of the crime was decisive for the progress of the investigations.

“Since yesterday, after the issuance of the arrest warrant, I had already communicated with you, the team from the Homicide Police Station began to carry out uninterrupted searches and, in the face of all this commotion that arose, we discovered that the perpetrator was in a forest region, there in the Eldorado region, Quixadá. When it was now in the early hours of the morning, he looked for people linked to his family and, given this information, we went to the location and there he ended up handing himself over to the team from the Homicide Police Station. Homicides. We took him here to our headquarters, where he has already been interrogated, all the forwarding procedures have been carried out to the Flagrantes Police Station and that is where he must go to the custody hearing”, said Alcino Júnior.

Asked by journalists whether the suspect had presented any motivation for the crime during interrogation, the delegate confirmed that the person being investigated reported the dynamics of the facts, but considered that details cannot be disclosed at this time.

“He did tell us the dynamics, what happened. At this moment, it is not appropriate for us to make disclosures in this regard, especially because these investigations, as I said, despite us having identified the authorship, they still need to be deepened in some other aspects”, he explained.

During the interview, the press also asked about the possible participation of other people in the crime. Alcino Júnior confirmed that the investigation already indicated, from the beginning, the involvement of more than one suspect.

“This second person had already been confirmed previously, even through forensic testing, and at the crime scene we can see the dynamics of a third person. Now we are working on identifying this second accused, the co-author, to define the search and arrest of the second person involved”, he highlighted.

The investigations remain ongoing under the responsibility of DHPP, focusing on identifying and locating the others involved in the homicide.
