The (Brazilian Investigative Association) this Thursday (25) repudiating the online attacks against Malu Gaspar, columnist for the newspaper O Globo and commentator for Globonews.
The attacks come in the wake of the publication published by the journalist this week stating that the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) sought out the president of , , in defense of the interests of .
“Unfortunately, in recent years, misogynistic attacks on women journalists who report on people who occupy important spaces of power have become common,” says a statement from the association.
“Abraji is an institution created to defend the work of professional journalists and this mission should be collective. When any journalist is intimidated for carrying out their job, society as a whole loses.”
In the report, Malu Gaspar stated that Moraes sought out Galípolo at least four times to put pressure on Master’s behalf — which the minister denied in a statement.
Moraes said he had received the president of the Central Bank, a version also released by the BC.
Previously, the newspaper O Globo also reported that the office of the minister’s wife, Viviane Barci de Moraes, with Master.
At the end of November, the STF minister traveled to Lima, Peru, during the Copa Libertadores final, on a private jet alongside one of the lawyers involved in the Master case, whose investigations are under the supervision of the magistrate.
The case reinforced the discussion about a code of conduct for STF ministers, a measure that has been resisted by some members of the court. On December 16, with the support of important names in the business community in favor of the creation of rules of conduct in the Supreme Court.
