Bolsonaro’s doctors will evaluate “interventional procedure” for hiccups

(Reuters) – Jair Bolsonaro’s media team released a bulletin this Thursday afternoon (25) citing the need for a new analysis of the ‘interventionist procedure’ in the coming days in light of the hiccups presented by the exponent of the Brazilian right.

The mention of new procedures came in the bulletin about the bilateral inguinal hernia surgery ‌which he underwent earlier ‌in a hospital in Brasília.

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), on Tuesday authorized Bolsonaro’s hospitalization the next day, Christmas Eve, for hernia surgery this Thursday.

Bolsonaro was imprisoned at the Federal Police Superintendency in Brasília, serving a sentence of more than 27 years following his conviction for an attempted coup d’état.

Doctors Claudio Birolini, Leandro Echenique, Brasil Caiado and Allisson B. Barcelos Borges stated in this Thursday’s bulletin that the surgery was carried out ‘as planned, without complications’.

The doctors wrote ‌although Bolsonaro, ‘is currently optimizing the clinical treatment of hiccups, and ‍the need for the interventional procedure should be reassessed in the coming days’.

Earlier, before the surgery, Bolsonaro reiterated in a handwritten letter shown to the press that he chose his eldest son, Flávio, as his nominee for pre-candidate for President in the October elections next year.
