Red hogweed can cause problems. Especially when it is on light clothes. Such a stain can be difficult to remove. However, proven home methods can help us remove unsightly dirt and restore the fabric to its original appearance. One product from the kitchen is enough.
Red hogweed stains are extremely difficult to remove. This is primarily due to the fact that beets contain betanin, a compound that gives them their characteristic, very red color. It is a strongly coloring substance that easily penetrates the structure of fabric fibers.
Additionally, removing the stain is not made easier by the fact that red borscht often also contains fats that come from e.g. cream or butter. This fixes the dirt on the fabric because it creates a protective layer around the dyes. This makes it much more difficult to dissolve them and thus remove the stain. For this reason, regular washing may often not be enough.
Moreover, if the stain is left on the fabric for a long time, the betanin may oxidize, which causes additional color darkening and makes it even more difficult to remove. It is also worth adding, that high-temperature water does not always help because it can fix the dye instead of washing it away. For this reason, it is worth using home methods that will effectively remove dirt.

If we want to remove a stain from hogweed, we must first act immediately, before the hogweed dries. First, clean gently with a paper towel to remove excess liquid. However, be careful not to press the dirt deeper into the fabric.
Then we prepare a simple homemade paste from the purified. To do this, pour a packet of baking soda into a bowl, which whitens the materials very well. Gradually add small amounts of water to obtain a thick paste, which we rub into the stain using a soft toothbrush. Leave the spread solution for 20 minutes.
After this time, rinse the fabric in cold water. If the stain does not come off completely, we can repeat this process. If you don’t have baking soda, you can use it instead table salt, pouring it on the stain, rubbing it into the dirt and leaving it for 20 minutesand then rinsing with water.
