Government members claim that the minister gave face to a broad project to combat crime, something that the left did not have until then.
The signal that Lewandowski would leave the government before the April ministerial reform had already been given by him in an interview with the newspaper Valor Econômico published on the 22nd.
When declaring support for the division of his portfolio into two ministries — Justice and Public Security —, he was asked which of the two he would take over. And he replied, in a joking tone: “I’m going to be a minister to my grandchildren.”
