Botafogo could see one of its main leaders leave the club next season. Marlon Freitas, a key player in the team since 2023 and captain from 2024, has entered Palmeiras’ radar and could be involved in a possible negotiation.
The proposal under discussion involves the payment of around 5 million euros (around R$32.5 million) to the Rio club, in addition to a salary increase for the 30-year-old midfielder.

In previous contacts, the Botafogo board made it clear to Marlon Freitas that the priority is to keep him in the squad. The club even signaled its desire to renew the contract, currently valid until December 2026.
According to Canal do Medeiros, Alvinegro found out about Palmeiras’ proposal through the press. Therefore, he requested an urgent meeting with the steering wheel to find out what the athlete wanted.
People linked to Botafogo’s SAF indicate that the athlete’s staff positively welcomed the possibility of a transfer to Palmeiras, seeing the move as a new step in his career.
