“What we are seeing the government do within its possibilities, not budgetary, is land regularization, settlement of families within settlement projects that already exist, regularization and recognition of quilombola areas”said Ceres in an interview with journalist Danielle Brant, from .
According to her, these actions “they are very important”but “they escape this direct confrontation with the demand for the fight for land in Brazil”.
The MST member said that the MDA (Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture) does not have of Brazil to carry out agrarian reform.
If Lula is re-elected in 2026, she stated that the movement hopes that the discussion will gain weight. Meanwhile, the MST will “continue to pressure the federal government to settle families and help develop the settlements that already exist in Brazil”.
She stated: “More than that, we also point out that on the horizon of a new government the possibility of having, in fact, a clear project for carrying out agrarian reform in the country”.
