PL aims to elect up to 115 deputies and 20 senators in 2026

The PL (Liberal Party) plans to significantly increase its representation in the National Congress in the 2026 elections. The investigation by political analyst Isabel Mega, in CNN New Dayshows that the party intends to elect 100 to 115 federal deputies and between 20 and 25 senators.

The party’s strategy includes betting on (PL-RJ) for the Presidency of the Republic as a way of mobilizing militancy and strengthening legislative candidacies.

“The validation of the candidacy by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is seen as an important element to encourage the party’s bases”, highlighted the analyst.

The party faces specific challenges in some states in achieving its electoral goals. In São Paulo, there will no longer be vote pullers like Carla Zambelli and Eduardo Bolsonaro.

In Minas Gerais, deputy Nikolas Ferreira, who had expressed interest in running for another position, should remain a candidate for re-election to the Chamber of Deputies, following guidance from the party’s president, Valdemar Costa Neto.

One of the main objectives of this would give the political group control over possible impeachment requests against ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
