Former director general of the PRF (Federal Highway Police) Silvinei Vasques was arrested in the early hours of Friday (26) at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, in Asunción, Paraguay, after being caught by immigration using false documents.
According to Paraguayan authorities, Silvinei presented a passport and an identity document from the Republic of Paraguay in the name of Julio Eduardoa 44-year-old Paraguayan citizen.
According to immigration, the documents appeared to be authentic and Julio’s name appears in the National Police (PN) computer system, which indicates that the person exists and is regularly registered in the country.
CNN correspondent in Buenos Aires, Luciana Taddeo, found that Julio Eduardo is in fact a person who exists and that he had already informed the Paraguayan authorities that he had lost his documents.
The distrust of migration agents was mainly due to the difference in appearance between the passport photo and Silvinei, which raised suspicions and led to the approach.
After being detained by immigration, Silvinei Vasques was arrested in Paraguay. He will be expelled from the country and handed over to Brazilian authorities this Friday.
