Former PRF director () Silvinei Vasques carried a letter when he was arrested, in which he said he could not hear or see and that he was going to El Salvador for medical treatment.
The information was revealed by the UOL portal and confirmed by Sheet. When contacted, Vasques’ defense did not comment.
According to the document, Vasques — who — had brain cancer that would prevent him from speaking, hearing and seeing. He said he could only communicate in writing.
The document stated that medical treatment in Foz do Iguaçu had had the side effects of blindness and deafness of the former director of the PRF. The Paraguayan passport he carried was in the name of Julio Eduardo.
Silvinei was arrested this Friday (26) in Paraguay trying to escape Brazil. He was at Asunción airport and was trying to board a flight to El Salvador.
A detected a failure in monitoring Silvinei’s electronic ankle bracelet at 3am on December 25th. According to reports from the agents, at that time the equipment stopped transmitting the GPS signal.
The first team called to check the loss of signal from the ankle bracelet was the Santa Catarina Penal Police, around 8pm this Thursday (25). Silvinei was no longer in his apartment, in the municipality of São José.
At around 11pm, a team from the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in Santa Catarina was on site to investigate possible non-compliance with restrictive measures.
Silvinei would have used a rented car to leave the building where he lived, in Santa Catarina, towards Paraguay. Hours before breaking his ankle bracelet, the former PRF director organized his belongings. Wearing sweatpants, a t-shirt and a cap, he took bags, dog toilet mats and a pitbull to the vehicle.
The PF informed the main steps of the escape attempt to the minister, from the (Supreme Federal Court), who ordered preventive detention. Silvinei was imprisoned for six months by the First Panel for participating in one of the cores of the government’s (PL) coup plot.
