Tainara Souza Santos’ burial will be this Friday

Woman died after 26 days in hospital after being run over and dragged 1 km; suspect responds for attempted femicide

The wake and burial of Tainara Souza Santos, 31 years old, which took place on Wednesday (Dec 24, 2025) at Hospital das Clínicas, will be held this Friday (Dec 26) at Cemitério São Pedro, in Vila Alpina, east of São Paulo.

Tainara died after remaining hospitalized since November 29th. She was run over and dragged for 1 km in the north of São Paulo.

According to a publication by Wilson Zaska Advocacia Criminal, an office that represents Tainara’s family, the wake is scheduled for 8 am (Brasília time), and the burial will be at 12 pm.

Douglas Alves da Silva, 26 years old, on November 30th. He is a defendant on charges of attempted femicide against Tainara and attempted murder against a man who was with her at the time of the crime.

Security cameras recorded, on November 29, an argument between Tainara and Douglas on a public street. The suspect then got into a black car, accelerated and ran over the victim, who was trapped under the vehicle. He continued driving along Marginal Tietê for 1 km with Tainara still under the car. The dragging only ended when the car passed the sidewalk of a gas station. The victim was rescued by witnesses and taken to hospital.

Mother of 2 children, aged 7 and 12, Tainara had both legs amputated and underwent 5 surgeries to reconstruct the injuries. She has remained intubated since the day of the accident.

The last surgery was carried out on Monday (Dec 22), when doctors removed skin for a graft from the remaining part of the leg, in the buttocks region. She also underwent a tracheostomy to remove the breathing tube.
