Teuda Bara, founder of Grupo Galpão, dies aged 84

Actress Teuda Bara, known for being the founder of the theater company Grupo Galpão, died this Thursday (25), aged 84. The information was released by the collective on social media.

“We are deeply grateful for the joy, strength and very rare light that Teuda spread throughout so many years of her life. Sharing the path with her was a gift — a daily exercise of generosity and artistic courage”, they wrote.

Teuda Bara’s wake will be held in the foyer of Palácio das Artes, in Belo Horizonte, from 10am (Brasília time) on December 26th.

Grupo Galpão was founded in Belo Horizonte, in 1982, with the intention of combining rigor, research, search for language, with the assembly of pieces that have great power to communicate with the public.

According to the official website, in its history the company has presented 27 shows in 19 countries, participated in around 300 festivals, won more than 100 awards and had more than 2 million spectators.

The current lineup includes actors Fernando Linares, Paulinho Polika, Eid Ribeiro, Gabriel Villela, Cacá Carvalho, Paulo José, Paulo de Moraes, Yara de Novaes, Jurij Alschitz, Marcio Abreu and Rodrigo Portella, in addition to the members themselves – Eduardo Moreira, Chico Pelúcio, Júlio Maciel, Lydia Del Picchia and Simone Ordones.
