The cruel end of the chairman of the JZD from Vesničko středisková: He did not recover from anesthesia after a routine procedure!

Who wouldn’t know the chairman of JZD Vojtěch Kalina from the cult comedy Vesničko má středisková (1985). A very cruel end awaited director Jiří Menzel’s favorite actor, who portrayed good-hearted rural characters or “dads”. As he writes, after a banal operation, Miloslav Štibich never recovered and died at the age of 63.

Czech actor Miloslav Štibich was born on August 25, 1928 in Prague and he got into acting at a relatively late age. He started his artistic career as a presenter of the Army Art Ensemble and then started working in the theater as a props and inspector, and as a result, he occasionally got minor roles in theater performances. Director Jiří Menzl noticed him in them.

“He was a great person, with a sense of humor, extremely modest and humble. I liked him very much. I always looked forward to him. When I learned that he had passed away, it was a shock to me. It must have come terribly suddenly,” revealed his colleague Oldrich Vlach.

Petr also mentioned Štibich in the past for Divadelné noviny Narožný, who admired his acting. “There was something mystical about it. He played small, sometimes even medium roles. It’s a difficult profession. Compared to an actor with a large ensemble who can perform on many levels, you have very little time for that,” he added.

His life ended prematurely and unexpectedly. Štibich did not recover from anesthesia after a banal gallbladder operation. According to some sources, the cause was hepatitis. He died on June 22, 1992 at the age of 63.
