The legendary fairy tale The Three Nuts for Cinderella attracts countless viewers to television screens every year, who have seen it so many times that they could recite the lines by heart. Nevertheless, there are details and behind-the-scenes facts that many people still miss. A well-known Czech actress spoke about one for the newspaper.
No one knew that the singer, actress, writer and presenter Jitka Molavcová was also part of this legendary work. When Cinderella dips her laundry in the icy water of the stream and sings to herself, everyone is convinced that it is the voice of Libuška Šafránková. But the truth is completely different.
In fact, it was Jitka Molavcová, whose singing the audience hears. Strikingly, her name is not even mentioned in the closing credits, as usual. “All my life I can’t figure out why it’s not mentioned anywhere that I’m singing it, I’m really sorry. But that’s not really important, I am very happy that I am also connected with this beautiful fairy tale in this way“, the actress openly admitted.
Why didn’t anyone know about this fact until now? “Karel Svoboda, who wrote the music for the fairy tale, insisted that the voice must be from a professional woman and chose Jitka himself. Director Vorlíček had to respect him. And of course the director Vorlíček wanted people to think that it was Libuška singing, so it was simply covered up,” explained Jiří Paulů, who has been taking care of Svobod’s royalties for years.
