Ukraine attacks Russian refinery linked to military supplies

The refinery in question is one of the main suppliers of petroleum products in southern Russia and will be directly linked to the supply of the Russian armed forces.

This Thursday, Ukraine attacked a large refinery in Russia directly linked to the supply of the Russian armed forces, using British Storm Shadow missiles, the General Staff of the Ukrainian armed forces announced.

“The Novoshakhtinsk refinery was attacked by several missiles that caused multiple explosions,” the General Staff said in a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

This type of weaponry has already been used several times in attacks on Russian territory.

“Ukrainian air force units successfully attacked the Novoshakhtinsk petroleum products factory in the Rostov region of Russia with Storm Shadow cruise missiles fired from the air,” according to the military communication, cited by the agency France Presse (AFP).

The General Staff explained that the refinery in question is one of the main suppliers of petroleum products in the south of Russia and “is directly linked to the supply of the armed forces of the Russian Federation“, namely diesel fuel and aviation kerosene.

Ukraine, which suffers daily Russian missile and drone attacks with a long range of action, retaliates by attacking energy installations and infrastructure.
