Volodymyr Zelensky would like to meet with Donald Trump in the coming days

Ukrainian President Zelensky is preparing for negotiations with Trump. The US side offers a new peace plan without sacrificing Ukraine’s NATO-related goals.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would like to meet with US President Donald Trump in the coming days. He announced this on the X social network on Friday, TASR reports.

Zelenskyy said that the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, informed him about the latest negotiations with the American side. “We are not losing a single day. We have agreed to a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump in the near future. Many things can be decided before the New Year,” he wrote.

The Ukrainian president already reported on Thursday that he had a phone call with the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Both are acting as American negotiators in talks with Ukrainian and Russian delegations to end the nearly four-year war in Ukraine.

On Tuesday, Zelensky presented the latest version of the 20-point American peace plan for ending the war with Russia. According to him, this proposal no longer requires Ukraine to formally give up its ambition to join NATO, and counts on strong security guarantees for Kyiv and the Ukrainian army of 800,000 soldiers. However, the representatives of Ukraine and the USA have not yet been able to agree on the issues of Ukrainian territory and the status of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. However, according to Zelensky, such sensitive issues should be discussed with the US at the level of the presidents.
