Zelensky talks with US envoys about "new ideas" to achieve peace in Ukraine

The Ukrainian president, , held a conversation this Thursday with White House emissaries and , with whom he addressed some “new ideas” about how to achieve peace in Ukraine, about formats, meetings and the roadmap for the talks.

“It was a really good conversation: a lot of details; there are good ideas, we talked about them. There are some new ideas of ours on how to get closer to real peace and this refers to formats, it refers to meetings and, of course, to the timing,” he said in a speech to the population.

Zelensky stated that the conversation lasted almost an hour and that the head of the Ukrainian negotiating team, , is also scheduled to speak with Witkoff and Kushner.

“Of course, we still have to work on some delicate issues. But together with the American side, we know how to ensure that all this happens. The next few weeks may be intense,” he stressed, regarding diplomatic contacts.

The Ukrainian president also asked White House emissaries to convey his Christmas greetings to the American president, , and his family. . “And thank you to everyone who continues to pressure Russia to ensure that it understands one hundred percent that prolonging the war will have serious consequences for it, for Russia,” he concluded.

This week Zelensky presented for the first time in detail the 20-point peace plan jointly drawn up by kyiv and Washington, which includes a pact in case of aggression and security guarantees for kyiv.

According to the Ukrainian Government, Washington has transferred the plan to Moscow, but Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet made an official statement.
