A survey published by Datafolha showed that 34% of those who consider themselves PT members declare themselves as right-wing and center-right e 14% of those who classified themselves as Bolsonarists, left-wing and center-left.
That of the PT members was completed with 47% defining themselves as center-left; 9% center; and 9% were unable to answer. Among Bolsonarists, 76% declared themselves right-wing and center-right; 8% center; and 2% were unable to answer.
The survey was carried out between December 2nd and 4th, based on a sample of 2,002 voters, in 113 Brazilian municipalities. The margin of error is 2 percentage points, plus or minus.
To discover the political spectrum of the interviewees, the question was asked “in which political position would you place yourself, with 1 being the most on the left and 7 being the most on the right?”.
Anyone who answered between 1 and 2 was considered left-wing; 3, center left; 4, center; 5, center right; and 6 and 7, right.
35% of Brazilians classify themselves as right-wing and 22% as left-wing. Another 17% say they are center-right, 11% center-right and 7% center-left, while 8% were unable to answer.
The institute proposed that interviewees classify themselves on a scale of 1 to 7, in which point 1 represented the most left position and point 7, the most right.
Still according to the survey, 40% say they are PT members, while 34% say they are Bolsonaro supporters. To measure this data, the researchers proposed a scale from 1 (bolsonarista) to 5 (PTista).
18% placed themselves in an intermediate position, 6% said they did not support either side and 1% did not know how to answer.
