An atmospheric blockage that established itself over part of the country this week favored an increase in temperatures
The weekend will be marked by heat, humidity and the advance of a cold front. This weather condition will make the weather unstable in several regions of the country. However, according to Climatempo, despite the risk of storms, temperatures remain high in much of Brazil. According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the red alert for the danger of a heat wave remains active until Monday (29) in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and parts of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina.
There is also a yellow alert for a heat wave, in force in the country since this Friday, valid until Monday. The affected states are:
- Goiás;
- Minas Gerais;
- Holy Spirit.
The last days of the year are being marked by high temperatures in several areas of Brazil, due to an atmospheric blockage that has established itself over part of the country. This makes it difficult for meteorological systems to operate and favors the persistence of heat throughout the days, especially in the Southeast, according to the Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo.
Cold front causes storm, but heat remains intense
Amid the record of high temperatures, there is also a record of a cold front. Despite the risk of storms, the heat remains intense this weekend in several parts of the country. Inmet has issued a yellow warning for storms, valid until this Saturday, in the following states:
- São Paulo;
- Minas Gerais;
- Goiás;
- Mato Grosso do Sul;
- Paraná;
- Rio Grande do Sul;
- Santa Catarina.
In the state of Rio Grande do Sul and in part of Santa Catarina, there is also an orange alert for the danger of storms valid until this Saturday.
There is also another yellow warning for intense rain in states in the North, Northeast and Central West.

Southeast Region
From Saturday afternoon onwards, instability increases, with moderate to heavy rain in São Paulo and the western half of Minas Gerais. There is a risk of storms in the interior and northeast of São Paulo and in the south and southwest of Minas Gerais. The rains decrease on Sunday (28), and temperatures remain high in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.
South Region
The advance of the cold front combined with hot and humid air causes rain showers this Saturday in the three states. In Rio Grande do Sul, especially in the southern half, there is a risk of storms and high volumes of rain, with a dangerous situation in the south of Rio Grande do Sul. The weekend is marked by heat with isolated showers and occasional thunderstorms.
Midwest Region
According to Climatempo, the rains are losing intensity and occurring more irregularly. Expectation of unstable and muggy weather The showers gain strength in Mato Grosso and the west and southeast of Goiás, with moderate to strong intensity. Between the late afternoon and evening, instability increases in Mato Grosso do Sul.
Northeast Region
The instability remains concentrated in Maranhão, with moderate to heavy rain in the central part of the state and in the extreme west of Piauí, according to Climatempo. The heat, however, continues to prevail throughout the region.
North Region
Rain showers are more concentrated in Acre and western Amazonas, with moderate to heavy intensity and risk of storms. Roraima continues to have more open and warm weather.
