A night fire in a Prague hostel caused the intervention of four fire stations. 60 people were evacuated, one of whom needed treatment. The damage is being investigated.

Firefighters responded to a fire on Saturday night in a hostel in Prague’s Bubench district. A mattress in one of the rooms caught fire, rescuers were treating one injured person. TASR informs about this according to the Novinky.cz portal report.

The fire broke out shortly after midnight on Národná obrany Street, and the Prague fire department received several reports of the incident. “Firefighters from four stations went to the scene. It was a mattress fire in one of the hotel rooms, it was extinguished with a single stream of water,” said Miroslav Řezáč, the spokesman for the fire department.

The street was closed

It was necessary to close the street for the involvement of a large number of rescue equipment. Policemen and security guards helped in the intervention. Rescuers, an inspector and a large-capacity Atego special vehicle were sent to the scene. The firemen also called an evacuation bus, which in the end did not have to intervene, and thanks to the quick progress of the rescuers, the persons could subsequently return to the building.

“A total of 60 people were evacuated, who were able to return after the building was ventilated. One person needed the medical care of rescuers,” added the spokesperson.

Investigators are currently investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
