An anaconda about five meters long caught the attention of those traveling along BR-364 when it was seen crossing the highway at km 10 in the municipality of Manoel Urbano, in the section that connects the city to Sena Madureira, in the interior of Acre. The incident was made by a resident of the region, who recorded the moment in which the animal moved slowly along the road, surprising drivers and passengers.

According to witnesses, the snake appeared in the early afternoon, a period when the flow of vehicles is intense on the highway. Despite the scare, there were no accidents reported, and drivers reduced speed to avoid running over the animal. After crossing the track, the anaconda headed towards the nearby vegetation.
Residents of the area claim that the presence of anacondas in this region is not rare. BR-364, especially in this stretch of km 10 in Manoel Urbano, cuts through forest areas and is close to a lake and streams, which favors the species’ habitat. According to local reports, anacondas of similar size and even larger ones have been seen on other occasions, mainly during periods of flood, when the animals move more frequently.
Experts highlight that the anaconda is an important wild species for environmental balance and, despite its impressive size, it usually avoids contact with humans. The advice is that, when encountering wild animals on the roads, drivers should slow down, do not try to get closer and call environmental agencies, if necessary, to ensure the safety of both people and local fauna.
