How a company from Kazakhstan wants to conquer the streets of Brazil

Brazil is one of the best markets in the world for micromobility. The phrase is from Ilya Timakhovskiy, the CEO of Jet, a blue electric scooter rental company that is already in 35 Brazilian cities.

The company was founded in Kazakhstan four years ago and arrived here two years ago. “We started with a large operation, and we are already in large cities, from Porto Alegre to Belém. Our strategy also includes cities that use the mode as leisure, such as the coastal Guarujá, Praia Grande, Bertioga, Balneário Camboriú, among many others”, says the executive, in an interview with InfoMoney.

The company’s expansion began, first, in the region where it was founded. “We enter other countries such as Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia, which have a large territory like Brazil. But here it is much better for our business: there is no harsh winter, like in Russia and the population is interested in this type of transport”, he states.

The company already has 800 employees in Brazil and between 100 and 200 will be hired in the coming months, to assist in the growth plan to 55 cities in 2026.

Of the approximately US$50 million in revenue worldwide, approximately US$30 million came from operations in Brazil and Latin America last year. Therefore, the country will also be the focus of most of the company’s investments in 2026. “We raised around US$20 million in equity and debt and 50% of the amount will be invested in opening new markets in the region”, he says.

With this, the company’s expectation is to double its size and include the option of renting electric bicycles. Another front for the company’s expansion is the rental of ‘power banks’ in stations located in subway stations, restaurants and cafes. “Our strategy is to build an ecosystem for users in our application, with a single subscription”, says the executive.
