Painter and author surprised when he submitted his candidacy, with almost 10 thousand signatures. He wrote ‘The Fleas of My Childhood’.
About two weeks ago, we presented all the candidates, or potential candidates, for President of the Republic. There were 45 registered.
None of them were Humberto Correia.
O candidate to the elections presidential next month surprised the political country by presenting almost 10 thousand signatures to the Constitutional Court. He submitted his application and is a candidate for Belém.
Algarvio, 64 years old, was an emigrant to France. When he returned, he was paint pictures on the streets of Faro, over 20 years. In addition to painting, he writes: He is the author of the book ‘The Fleas of My Childhood’.
It has two focuses: poverty ea housing. It says that 80% of Portuguese people are poor and 20% are in poverty. And he thinks that the housing crisis that Portugal is going through is “the biggest problem” in the country.
To combat this second problem, Humberto advocates more social housing built by the State – and then rented at affordable prices. At , he gave an example: 30 square meters, 90 euros per month; 50 square meters, 150 euros per month.
It indicates that article 65 of the Law must be complied with: “Everyone has the right, for themselves and their family, to housing of an adequate size, in hygienic and comfortable conditions and which preserves personal intimacy and family privacy”.
In their calculations, it is necessary to build 100 thousand social housing units per year in Portugal.
In relation to education, I would prefer to see in Portugal what happens in France: Compulsory schooling starts at age 3not at 6.
Define yourself as someone of center right. “I think so,” he says, while remembering that he never joined any political party.
Humberto Correia has already started touring the country dress by D. Afonso Henriques. He explained that this is a way of making an “impact on people”; admitted that he is inspired by many kings and that “we, Portuguese, have to be proud of our history”.
It should be noted that, to reach the minimum number of 7,500 signatures (exceeding this minimum), Humberto Correia began collecting these signatures in May 2021.
