Man killed on Christmas Eve after wasp attack

A 40-year-old man died last Wednesday (24), Christmas Eve, after being attacked by a swarm of wasps, in the Quinta da Boa Vista neighborhood, in Aparecida de Goiânia (GO). The victim was cutting branches from a tree in his backyard when he was surprised by the animals.

Found unconscious

According to the Goiás Military Fire Department (CBMGO), the man had already been found unconscious. Teams from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) attended to the victim and tried to revive him, however, without success, confirming his death at the scene.

According to family members, the victim had a history of severe allergies to insect bites. After being stung, the victim felt sick and went to the bathroom. Then his children found him passed out. The man’s identity was not disclosed, and the incident was recorded as an accidental death.

Another bee swarm attack

Approximately a month ago, João Pedro, just 9 years old, died after being attacked by a swarm of bees, also in Goiás. The incident occurred last November 13, when the child entered the forest trying to save his dog.

The child was hit with more than 1,500 bites spread across his body, and was hospitalized in serious condition at Uberlândia Medical Center Hospital, in Minas Gerais. He underwent hemodialysis due to kidney failure, which ended up progressing to multiple organ failure. Death was confirmed 11 days after the attack.
