“In view of the extreme aggressiveness of the dogs, the absence of any effective means of containment on the part of the person responsible and the impossibility of using less serious alternatives, it was necessary to use a firearm to stop the threat, resulting in the slaughter of the two animals”, explained the PMDF.

According to the corporation, the measure was adopted to preserve the physical integrity of police officers and other residents of the region, “being essential to avoid even more serious consequences”.

The injured military police officer was taken to the Gama Regional Hospital for medical care and, later, to the Legal Medical Institute for standard procedures.

The animals’ owner was found in a visible state of intoxication, detained and taken to the 20th Police Station for the appropriate legal measures.
