Vienna networks: major reconstruction under high voltage


The man knows the city from below. Cable routes from the 1970s, transformer stations that have become too small and gas pipes that will be history in a few years. When the managing director of Wiener Netze, Thomas Maderbacher, who is retiring at the end of the year, clears out his office in Vienna-Simmering these days, he will not leave behind a finished work, but rather a permanent construction site.
