Acre River exceeds 15 meter quota and Civil Defense begins assembling shelters in Rio Branco

The level of Rio Acre surpassed the 15 meter mark this Sunday (28), in Rio Brancotriggering the maximum alert of the Municipal Civil Defense. With the river rising, the City Hall began assembling shelters to accommodate families affected by the flood.

According to the official bulletin from Rio Branco’s Civil Defense, the river level showed a constant rise throughout the day. At 5:21 am, the spring measured 14.86 meters; at 9 am, it rose to 14.94 meters; and, at noon, it reached 15.04 meters, exceeding the overflow level.

Given this scenario, municipal teams began preparing strategic spaces to welcome the population, including the Exhibition Parkwhich traditionally functions as a shelter during periods of flood. The structure is being organized to receive families safely, with logistical support and social assistance.

Civil Defense continues to monitor the river’s behavior and advises residents of riverside areas and historically floodable regions to pay attention to official announcements. If the level continues to rise, new areas may be reached, requiring preventive removals.
