Czech police and customs officers intervened in the house of Karlos Vémola in the village of Měchenice near Prague on Tuesday, December 23 in the morning. The police finally detained him and two other men in connection with drug-related crime. As the portal writes, his lawyer insists that detectives from the National Drug Control Center (NPC) no drugs, anabolic steroids or large sums of money were found during a search of the MMA fighter’s villa.
As the portal informs, Karlos Vémola was sent to custody by the court on Thursday. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the detainees for illegal production and other handling of narcotic and psychotropic substances. If found guilty, the men are to face a prison sentence of ten to 18 years.
Vémola himself also spoke on the social network on Friday. “Thank you all for the words of support that have been coming my way. I really appreciate it. I don’t understand at all why I was accused in a five-year-old case that I know nothing about and that has already been resolved. With a lawyer, we will fight against prosecution and detention I firmly believe that everything will be explained and I will soon be home with the children and Lela,” clarified what he thinks about the serious allegations.
He also admitted that he still has health problems that bother him a lot. “I’m trying to manage everything, even though at the time of my detention I was on my way to surgery with inflammation in my jaw and the pain continues. Thank you once again and greetings to everyone who stands by me!” he said to the fans. The MMA wrestler was supposed to undergo an operation on his jaw in which he has an infection on the very day of the house inspection.
He reacted to the drug case of a well-known Czech his biggest sports rival Attila Végh. “We don’t always take the right steps in life. Nevertheless, we still have no right to judge. I wish the family a lot of strength,” he said on Instagram in regards to the allegations the combative wrestler is now facing.
