The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is already in the United States to meet with American President Donald Trump this Sunday (28), in Palm Beach, Florida. The meeting is scheduled for 3 pm, Brasília time, and takes place one day after a large-scale Russian attack with missiles and drones against Kiev and other regions of the country.
The meeting will be held at Mar-a-Lago, owned by Trump, and focuses on trying to conclude a peace agreement to end almost four years of war that began with the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
What will be discussed
According to Zelensky, the talks should address security agreements, economic issues and territorial issues. One of the main points is the future of the Donbas region, in eastern Ukraine, partially occupied by Russia, where Kiev and Moscow maintain divergent positions.

“Whether decisions will be made depends on our partners – those who help Ukraine and those who put pressure on Russia so that the Russians feel the consequences of their own aggression,” Zelensky said in a social media post on Sunday.
Negotiations have advanced in recent weeks with the exchange of drafts of a 20-point peace plan between representatives of the two countries. Zelensky stated that the text is around 90% complete, an assessment similar to that made by American authorities after meetings held at the beginning of the month in Berlin.
The plan provides security guarantees for Ukraine. Zelensky indicated his willingness to give up his attempt to immediately join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, as long as the country receives protection equivalent to that offered to members of the alliance.
Before meeting with Zelensky, call confirmed by the Kremlin. Putin maintains the position of not accepting a ceasefire without an agreement reached.
During the meeting in Florida, Trump and Zelensky are expected to hold a joint call with European leaders, according to a Ukrainian government spokesman. Zelensky also held talks with European authorities in recent days and met on Saturday with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who announced new resources for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Trump stated that the meeting “will go well” and indicated that he will play a central role in advancing the negotiations. On Saturday, however, Putin was adamant: he said that .

War rages on
The meeting takes place amid the intensification of Russian attacks. Over the weekend, Russia launched hundreds of drones and missiles into Ukraine, hitting Kyiv and the city of Kherson. At least one person died and 27 others were injured, according to Ukrainian authorities. Parts of the capital were left without electricity, and damage to infrastructure remains under assessment.
According to Kiev, this week alone, Russia launched more than 2,100 attack drones, around 800 guided aerial bombs and 94 missiles of various types.
