This Sunday, FC Porto opened the memorial to Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa to the public. The tribute was created from the thousands of symbolic objects left next to the Estádio do Dragão upon the death of the former president. The visit takes place on the day Pinto da Costa would have celebrated his 88th birthday.
Dozens of Porto families visited Estádio do Dragão this Sunday to see the tribute space that reflects the fans’ devotion to Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. Scarves, shirts and thousands of messages left near the stadium, upon the death of the former president, have now been gathered for future memory.
In total, more than 10 thousand objects were collected. Each one holds a story and each one is also a gesture of gratitude. At the exit, fans were presented with a book.
Younger people haven’t followed much of the former president’s journey, but they have an idea of the legacy he left behind.
The date was not chosen at random. This Sunday, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa would celebrate his 88th birthday.
The memorial can be visited between ten in the morning and six in the afternoon and will, from now on, be part of the official route of the Porto Football Club Museum and Stadium.
